“Have a big enough heart to love unconditionally, and a broad enough mind to embrace the differences that make each of us unique.”
― D.B. Harrop
What a random unexpected time to sit down and write a blog. I have not written public thoughts in awhile now, probably dating back to that ancient history we call “MySpace days”. I really should not be writing at all, with the annual Shortstack Fashion Show just a few weeks away, but this is probably an exercise in procrastination, with a dose of clearing my thoughts, and a dash of inspiration.
One of our models just shared with me her blog. She is a really good writer and poet. Like many artists starting out, they often feel pulled by society’s message of taking the normal, secure route. You know, get a real job type of stuff… and I am always here to say “NO! Follow your passion and desire”… especially if you are as good as this model’s writing is. Tell your story, share it with the world, and inspire the masses. We are all on this road and we all have these tremendous thoughts and feelings inside. Why not get it out in beautiful and expressive ways?
Anyhow, it reminded me of my days of writing and I couldn’t help but wonder if I still “have it”. I wonder if that gift of expression is still present, and how more recently, an awesome network of global leaders were trying to convince me to finally write my book, and tell “my story.” I don’t even know if I can get this blog out of me, never mind my whole story! It has been quite a journey – a search for love, faith, and self. I’ve learned a lot of tough lessons, and my soul has truly grown from it. I took a beating emotionally and was dragged through the ringer. I am not sure if I am ready to tell the whole story yet, but the truth is “the story” is what I pull from everyday – it is why I am the way I am – it is what has molded me and drives me to inspire the masses. Every conversation matters. Every person the universe provides in my path is there for a reason. Whether I see them daily, or once a year, I want the experience to be connective and compassionate, without hurt, judgment, resentment, or anger. I want to inspire them, share with them, and help them find their story. Unconditional love. Everyone matters. Every moment matters.
Where do our life stories come from? Who makes up your story? Each person that has come through my life I can feel contributing to “my story.” Can you feel that in your life? I do not believe that the universe provides accidents. It can be a person who walks into your life and makes a huge impact – and that relationship, good or bad, is there for you to learn something deeply about yourself. Perhaps, the person who you meet on the street for a few seconds can provide a necessary connection or message that your soul needed. Sometimes, a person may be in your life for a short time and then life happens and you go in opposite directions. They are a gift. Good times, bad times, in and out, or brief moments, are all rare blessings.
I believe life is about love, and love is an incredible energy. I think we attract people into our life with similar energy, and like all things in life, energy changes from time to time. Sometimes you are in alignment with a person, and sometimes you aren’t. Have you ever met someone for the fist time and felt like you knew them forever, as if the only logical reason for this could be they were part of your world in a former life? Could it be because the energies were the same in both lives? Then perhaps it changed, and you could not figure out why? Maybe you blamed yourself? Maybe not. The truth is we like to hold onto what feels good in our lives, and sometimes you want to go back to a moment that you miss when you were in alignment with that particular person. Unfortunately energy changes, therefore our love and relationships will change as well. This is all okay if you are aware this is happening to you, but most of the time I do not think we are aware. Our emotions simply blind us. Can you relate to this at all?
I am not sure if I am making sense, and perhaps I did lose my writing touch, but my head is bogged down with the simple question “why do people come in and out of our lives?” Is it fate? Is it energy? Is it the universe orchestrating a moment? Does the answer even matter? Should we just enjoy the moments we get and not overanalyze this life at all?
I want to believe people, whether they realize it or not, are messengers. I think they come into our lives to remind us of something we need to learn, or a part of us perhaps we need to nurture. Maybe people come into our life to give us a chance to remedy something we did not handle right in the past. Maybe we are all just simply learning how to be better versions of ourselves and this is why we have friends, family, and connections. From that perspective, I guess I don’t believe in chance. People may never know what they bring to your life, but their connection to you is still a priceless gift.
Is there someone in your life you want to reconnect with? Who are your friends that add the most value to your soul presently? How do you nourish your own personal growth? If you aren’t nourishing, why not, and do you feel that is healthy? What are the priceless gifts you exchange with your relationship with loved ones?
Thank you to all my friends – old and new – in my life and not in my life anymore. Your heartbeats make up “my story.”
